Chicago Mayor Backs Measure to Mandate Side Guards

Chicago is taking a stand against side inmpact collisions with large trucks. Large trucks working on big projects for the city will have to side guards installed on their vehicles. Trucks weighing more thyan 10,000 pounds or Class 3 and above must have side guards. “Chicago is using a data-driven approach to improve traffic safety, and the data shows we can save lives and prevent serious injuries by installing this type of safety equipment,” Mayor Rahm Emanuel said.
