Truck Side Guards
The city of Portland has committed to the Vision Zero Pledge and now requires truck Side Guards to be fully implemented by 2023!
Portland Program Information
The City of Portland has always been a strong advocate and protector of bicyclists and pedestrians as is evidenced in their commitment to resources like bike lanes and pedestrian walk ways.
- Walker Blocker has already retrofitted the entire City Fleet for Portland. From the Water Bureau to Forest to City, Walker Blocker has retrofitted all of them. All class 3 and above trucks, including Garbage trucks. The relationship has been great and shows the commitment that the City of Portland has.
- In 2020 Portland created a Mandate to make Side Guards Mandatory on all Private Garbage and Recycling Trucks by the start of 2023. Further they committed the resources in terms of dollars to fund the project.
- Portland committed to pay for 60% of the cost for all the private garbage fleets to have their trucks upfitted. Some fleets have over 120 trucks that qualify! That is amazing!
- So far over 70% of all private Garbage haulers have been retro-fitted with Side Guards by Walker Blocker. Amazing!
- Walker Blocker has been working with the City of Portland for the past 3 years.
